NetOps agents
NetOps agents: network operations, run by agents
NetOps agents are AI agents that run network operations work: they audit firewall and ACL changes, assess the blast radius of a change before it is applied, check device configuration against policy, and correlate network signals to the root cause of an outage. They run continuously rather than waiting to be asked, and every action is recorded.
What these agents take on
Network teams lose most of their time to work that is repeatable rather than hard: reading diffs after a change, chasing which device drifted from standard, and assembling a timeline once something breaks. That is the work these agents take on.
How this differs from what you have
| Manual network ops | Scripted automation | Agentic NetOps | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Change review | Read by an engineer, after the fact | Only what the script checks | Risk scored before the change lands |
| Config drift | Found in an audit, quarterly | Compared to a fixed template | Checked continuously against policy |
| Incident cause | Assembled by hand across consoles | Not addressed | Correlated across devices and domains |
| Multi-vendor | Per-vendor tooling and knowledge | A script per platform | One view across vendors |
| Audit trail | Whatever was written up | The script's log | Every input, call and approval |
The agents
- ACL Change Audit Agent — audits firewall and ACL changes to flag risky or non-compliant updates.
- Network Change Risk Assessment Agent — assesses blast radius and risk before network changes are applied.
- Network Config Compliance Agent — checks configurations against policy and standards.
- RCA for Networking Issues Agent — correlates network signals to pinpoint root causes of outages.
- NetOps Exec Summary & Reporting Agent — delivers concise network health and risk summaries for leaders.
What makes them safe to run in production
- Read-only by default. Analysis needs no write access. Anything that changes state waits for a person to approve it.
- Your data stays put. Agents query the systems where it already lives, with no copy and no migration.
- Every run is auditable. Inputs, tool calls, conclusion and approver are recorded.
- Your model, your environment. Cloud, Fabrix-managed or on-premises, including sovereign and air-gapped deployments.
Questions we get asked
What are NetOps agents?
NetOps agents are AI agents that perform network operations tasks: auditing firewall and ACL changes, assessing the risk of a planned change, checking configuration compliance, correlating signals to a root cause, and summarising network health for leadership. They work across multi-vendor estates rather than one vendor's tooling.
How is this different from network automation?
Network automation runs a procedure you wrote, exactly as written. An agent decides what to look at, gathers the evidence itself and reasons across domains before acting. Automation executes; an agent investigates and then executes, once a person approves anything that changes state.
Which vendors and network types are covered?
Campus, data centre, SD-WAN and service provider networks across multi-vendor infrastructure. Data is collected through APIs and message buses, SNMP, SSH/CLI, gNMI and Bulkstats, so devices without a management platform are still reachable.
Can an agent change network configuration?
Only with approval. Investigation and audit are read-only by default; applying a change is a separate, scoped grant, and each action is recorded with who approved it.
Do we have to replace our existing network tools?
No. Fabrix.ai reads from the monitoring, domain controller and ITSM systems already in place through 2000+ pre-built bots, REST APIs and Model Context Protocol, and writes back to ticketing.
